School drums up some support

Lincoln City’s St. James Santiago School will celebrate its year-long study of Africa with a drum and dance concert led by Senegalese dance master Abdoulaye Thioub and his band at the Lincoln City Cultural Center this Saturday, May 11.

Thioub will involve the audience in communal dance and drumming for an exciting celebration of West African music that will delight both children and adults. The fund-raising event will also feature a silent auction with attractive items from local businesses. Refreshments, a display of student artwork and a student-led bake sale will round out the evening. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

The evening kicks off at 6:30 pm at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, located at 540 NE Hwy. 101. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children age 12 and younger. For more information and tickets, go to lincolncity-culturalcenter.org or call 541-994-9994.
