“Migrations” Fiber Arts Show

See textiles and beadwork by a number of artists, each on his or her own personal migration. This exhibit, assembled by Nita Spencer, includes examples of bead work, traditional loom weaving, knitting, rug hooking, quilting, needle felting and basketry. There will also be examples of Raven's Tail and Chilcat weaving, techniques from the Native American tradition. It’ll be a Pear Party
Columbia Gorge
The Friends of the Lincoln City Cultural Center are hosting an all-day bus trip on Sunday, Sept. 19, from Newport and Lincoln City to the Columbia Gorge. Stops are scheduled at the Vista House at Crown Point and Multnomah Falls and Lodge, plus brunch at the Columbia Gorge Hotel, and the Pear Party at Rasmussen Farms. Time permitting, there will also be a visit to Bonneville Dam. You’ll spend the day in an air conditioned bus, and part of the $100 ticket goes back to the cultural center. Rock climbing wall reopens
Lincoln City Community Center
Following a lengthy closure due to a nationwide recall of auto-belay descenders — there’s a phrase to remember — the indoor rock climbing wall at the Lincoln City Community Center is open once again. The 24-foot wall is the tallest on the Oregon coast, and it was funded entirely through donations. It offers top rope, auto belays and a bouldering area. It’s open to all ages, for day use and rentals. A signed liability release is required for all climbers. Forms are available at the Lincoln City Community Center's front desk. It’s open from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, $3.50 youth, $5 for adults who live inside the city limits, $6.50 for adults who live outside of town, 541-994-2131 or lincolncity.org.
