4H teens are on a Noble quest

When it comes to Christmas trees, you want to get your hands on a prime specimen. That’s where members of the Prime Cuts Ranchers 4-H Club can help, as they hold their 5th Annual Christmas Tree Fund-raiser starting this Friday, Nov. 25, in Newport.

The club will be offering Noble and Douglas Firs in various sizes from 9 am to 7 pm at the Lincoln County Commons. The sale will continue through Sunday, Dec. 18, open from 9 am to 7 pm on weekends and 4 to 7 pm on weekdays. Proceeds from the sales of the trees will support club activities.

Wreaths and See’s Candies will also be on offer as 4H member Ben Spangler raises funds to attend the 2023 National Shooting Sports Championship.

Beginning this Friday, Nov. 25, and running throughout December, Spangler will be selling a variety of See’s Candies as well as beautiful handcrafted wreaths in the old Pick of the Litter Building. Spangler will be on site from 5 to 7 pm, Tuesday to Thursday; noon to 7 pm on Fridays; and 9 am to 7 pm Saturday and Sunday. Wreaths can be purchased for $30 and up depending on the size. Special orders are available on request.

The 4-H Youth Development Program focuses on providing kids of all ages with the life skills they need to succeed in today’s — and tomorrow’s — world. Projects and activities are vehicles that help young people learn and grow through an intentional process that builds competence, confidence, connection, compassion and character.
