A cordial invitation

You are cordially invited to Newport’s Visual Arts Center to view “Oregon Cordially,” a show by Reedsport-based painter Elyan Jamot.

Jamot’s exhibit includes plein air oil paintings of Southern Oregon landscapes.

Born and raised in France, Jamot has shown her paintings at museums and hotels in Normandy. Now living in Reedsport, she exhibits her work at the Mindpower Gallery, the Umpqua Lighthouse Museum in Winchester Bay and has participated in various exhibits with the Dunes Art Club in Florence.

She’s studied painting at various institutions both locally and abroad, and returns to Europe regularly to paint and exhibit there.

“I spend most of my time exploring the world and painting, very much influenced by Paul Gauguin’s life,” Jamot said. “My favorite medium is oil, because of its power and timeless qualities.”

“Oregon Cordially” will be on display through July 31 in the Coastal Oregon Visual Artists Showcase. The Newport Visual Arts Center is open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from noon to 4 pm. For more information, go to coastarts.org.
