A display worth your attention

The lovely and lively campus at Lakeview Senior Living in Lincoln City is the site for two upcoming Halloween events: a haunted scarecrow contest and a socially distant Trunk or Treat. The entire campus is filled with Halloween lights and lots of spooky decorations. The scarecrows will be created by various departments at Lakeview Senior Living and by local businesses and groups.

“We hope for a big turnout, especially for the Trunk or Treat,” said Jennifer Whitmyer, Lakeview’s executive director. “Our campus is super decorated, and there is so much to see. Decorate your vehicle and join the fun!”

The haunted scarecrows will be completed and judged on Tuesday, Oct. 26, by celebrity judges Representative David Gomberg, Mayor Susan Wahlke and Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lori Arce-Torres. First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded to the winning teams.

The entire community is invited to walk or drive through Lakeview’s campus to check out the scarecrows on display from Tuesday through Monday, Nov. 1.

Businesses and private individuals can decorate a car, fill the trunk with goodies and hand out treats at the Trunk or Treat on Friday, Oct. 29. All children are invited to trick or treat and enjoy the scary sights from 2 to 5:30 pm.

Can’t participate in the Trunk or Treat but still want to help make this a successful event? Donations of candy are welcome to help Lakeview residents fill treat bags.
