All hands on dock
It won’t be hard to get a good photo of Santa and Mrs. Claus and their supporting cast of elves at the opening ceremony of Deck the Dock on Monday, Nov. 29, in Lincoln City
The lights on Taft Dock will be heralded by light-wrapped light posts all the way down 51st Street and then along the length of Highway 101. Santa will be greeting kids of all ages next to the 12-foot holiday tree.
Lincoln City Parks and Recreation, along with Explore Lincoln City will have cookies from My Petite Sweet to share while Mr. and Mrs. Claus will have the honor of flipping the switch to light up the dock.
“This is truly a Miracle on 51st Street,” said Ed Dreistadt, director of Explore Lincoln City. “Our Parks and Recreation Department stepped forward and stretched the budget for this like I’ve never seen a budget stretched before. We are years ahead of where I thought we’d be with our holiday lights program.”
“Making fun, family experiences are what Parks is all about,” added Parks & Recreation Director Jeanne Sprague. “The opportunity to work with Explore Lincoln City, Public Works and local businesses to put on a show has made this a labor of love for me and my staff.”
The ceremony begins at 5 pm at Taft Dock, at the end of 51st Street in Lincoln City.
