An open (light)house

Heceta Head Lightstation is celebrating 25 years of Victorian Christmas open houses this weekend and next

Each Saturday and Sunday evening from Dec. 11 through 19, local musicians will be performing at the historic Keeper’s House, including the Coastalaires, Marty Adams, Takako Klampe, Hammers and Whistles, Robbie Dee Woody, Nyah and RosaMundi Celtic Trio.

Santa will also be visiting to welcome children of all ages.

Bring a flashlight and take a night-time walk to the lighthouse, a great opportunity to watch the lighthouse beams rotate overhead, a truly a magical experience.

Entry to the Keeper’s House is free, but donations are accepted. You can also support upkeep for the historic building by entering the holiday raffle, offered online or in person, and win a free night’s stay at the Bed & Breakfast and great prizes from local artists and businesses.

Parking is available at the Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic View Point for $5 per vehicle. A free shuttle bus will take visitors from the park to the front door.  Or bring warm, rainproof clothing and a flashlight so you can enjoy the beautiful walk up from the beach to the festivities.

The Heceta Lighthouse Gift Shop will be open and filled with special lighthouse gifts for your Christmas shopping.

The Queen Anne-style building will remain decorated with festive Victorian holiday style until Jan. 3.

The open houses will run from 4 to 7 pm. For more information, go to hecetalighthouse.com or call 866-547-3696.
