Art in the spotlight

The Yaquina Art Association Gallery spotlight show will feature the photography of Linda Radcliff and Barbara Irvine, Friday, April 28, through Friday, May 12.

Radcliff lives in Newport and has been an active member of the association for more than 15 years. Her colorful and vivid work can be seen on larger canvas prints and on greeting cards. She will be in the gallery frequently during the show and you can see how much fun she draws from her work.

Irvine was a professional scientific illustrator whose curiosity turned to more visual art pursuits throughout her life. The gallery show features her gifted photography.

Irvine sees nature as art — a perspective that has allowed her to find amazing subjects others would easily overlook. She also captured seascapes. Either way, she said half of her work was unaltered and the rest turned into what she called “mind imagery," where she combined photographs for something new. There is great depth in her displayed work.

The association has been serving local artists for more than 75 years and offers free art classes.

The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located at 789 NW Beach Drive in Newport and is open daily from 11 am to 4 pm. For more information, go to yaquinaart.org 541-265-5133.
