Calling all CoastBusters

Save money and guarantee swag by registering early for the CoastBusters Walk for Breast Cancer by Saturday, Aug. 31.

This annual three-mile walk, held this year on Saturday, Sept. 28 on the Newport High School track, is the outcome of two local ladies’ desire to inspire hope for other women and their families struggling with breast cancer.

Recent breast cancer survivors themselves, Jeanette Campagna and Sonia Graham decided to make a difference in the lives of women and others in their own communities battling breast cancer and to give back to the community and medical teams that supported them. Adopting the motto that something good can certainly come from something bad, they started the first annual walk in 2021 in Newport.

Last year’s walk in Newport attracted nearly 200 participants and raised more than $25,000 for local women battling breast cancer.

The walk is an opportunity to proudly raise awareness in communities and offer hope, strength and courage to all women who have been affected by breast cancer.

Attendees are encouraged to create a team and dress up in their favorite pink attire on walk day. The event will be held rain or shine, and walkers are also encouraged to bring cash to purchase items in the silent auction and CoastBusters attire. Fun contests, such as the most creative costume, will also be held.

Early bird registration is $30 and guarantees a t-shirt, pink ribbon pin and swag bag. Registration will increase to $40 beginning Sept. 1, and onsite registration on the day of the events will be $50.
