Candy craving? Start carving.

Sharpen your carving knives and strike fear into the heart of any nearby gourds — it’s time for the Newport Recreation Center’s inaugural Pumpkin Carving Contest.

To join in the virtual community event, take your carved pumpkin to one of Newport’s city parks for a scenic fall photoshoot between now and Wednesday, Oct. 27. 

Pumpkins may be lit or unlit, but must be carved.

All photos will be posted to the City of Newport Parks and Recreation Facebook page on Oct. 28 in three age categories: six to 12; 13 to 18; and 18 and up. The photo with the most likes in each category by noon on Nov. 1 will win a $20 gift certificate from the 2 Kids Candy Store.
