Enjoy a little music in Neskowin

Just north of Neskowin on the Oregon Coast, the former horse barn carefully remodeled into the Chapel at Camp Winema provides excellent acoustics with just enough seating for a true chamber music experience.

The Neave Trio will fill the chapel with sound this Sunday, March 20, when Neskowin Chamber Music presents an in-person performance by violinist Anna Williams, cellist Mikhail Veselov and pianist Eri Nakamura.

The program will include works by Louise Farrenc and Germaine Tailleferre, as well as Astor Piazzolla’s “The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires,” which the group recorded on the 2018 album, “Celebrating Piazzolla.”

Gramophone described the recording as “thrilling,” having “wild energy” and “electrifying,” while Classics Today said, “The energetic edginess, the snap, the rhythm sound convincing, totally invigorating and authentic.”

Since forming in 2010, Neave Trio has earned enormous praise for its engaging, cutting-edge performances.

“’Neave’ is actually a Gaelic name meaning ‘bright’ and ‘radiant’, both of which certainly apply to this trio’s music making,” said a review from New York classical music station WQXR.

The group’s 2019 album “Her Voice,” was named one of the best recordings of the year by both The New York Times and BBC Radio 3. The Boston Musical Intelligencer said, “It is inconceivable that they will not soon be among the busiest chamber ensembles going,” and “Their unanimity, communication, variety of touch, and expressive sensibility rate first tier.”

Neave Trio has performed at many esteemed concert series and at festivals worldwide, including Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Samoylov and Rimsky Korsakow Museums' Chamber Music Series in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The trio’s other critically acclaimed recordings include “French Moments” and the debut album, “American Moments.”

The concert begins at 3 pm at the Chapel at Camp Wi-Ne-Ma, 5195 Wi Ne Ma Road in Neskowin. For tickets and more information, go to neskowinchambermusic.com
