Find your nicho at the library

The Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos honors loved ones who have passed on with festivals and lively celebrations. To help celebrate this cultural event, Lincoln City’s Driftwood Public Library is giving out free “nicho” craft kits.

A nicho is a small decorative frame used to place an image on an ofrenda, or community altar, alongside flowers, food and beverages and other colorful items.

Kits are first come, first served and available while supplies last.

Go to the library website for a slide presentation with instructions on how to create and decorate your nicho as well as a primer on Dia de los Muertos history.

A second craft kit will be released on Monday, Oct. 25.

The library is located at 801 SW Hwy. 101. For more information, go to www.driftwoodlib.org. If coming to the library is a barrier, email skhan@lincolncity.org or call 541-996-1255 for outreach options.
