Good gourd!

Jane Wilson’s exquisite coiled gourd vessels have been admired, gifted and treasured by visitors since her first exhibit in Lincoln City last spring.

Now you can learn to make one of your own as Wilson leads a one-day class on Tuesday, March 8, at Lincoln City’s Fiber Arts Studio Gallery.

Learn to attach cord to a gourd with a basket weaving technique using two types of coiling: open and closed.

There will be a selection of color combinations to choose from, including natural. Beads can be added for embellishment if desired.

Supplies provided include a prepared hard-shell gourd, cords, beads and some tools. Students need to provide a pencil, scissors, an apron and a cordless drill.

The class is from 10 am to 5 pm. The cost is $70 plus a materials fee of $35.

The Fiber Arts Studio Gallery is located inside the Lincoln City Cultural Center at 540 NE Hwy. 101. For more information, go to lincolncity-culturalcenter.org or call 541-994-9994.
