Whether you’re looking for items that are practically brand new or treasured antiques, the Great Oregon Coast Garage Sale, happening Friday through Sunday, April 15 through 17, is poised for a banner year.

“We have double the registrations as we had last year,” said Lori Arce-Torres, executive director of event host, the Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce. “We’re back up to almost 80 participants and we’ve even had to turn some people away. People are anxious to get out and shop and also sell some of the things they haven’t been able to until now.”

The event happens every year during the third weekend of April, which Arce-Torres said sometimes causes the sale weekend to coincide with the Easter holiday.

“We stick with that date” she said, “because so many people plan their vacations in advance with the sales in mind.”

The pandemic led to smaller sales in the past two years, something that is working to the advantage of shoppers this year.

“We have much more furniture and antiques than usual because after sitting and looking around at their homes for the last two years, people are ready to refresh and change,” Arce-Torres said. “I can’t remember a time when we’ve seen this many places listing antiques.”

Other items that the chamber organizers anticipate will go fast are a Jet Ski and a boat. Luckily, the handy-dandy map found in these pages is here to help you strategize.

“People love the map since they can see what places are listing ahead of time and show up there first,” Arce-Torres said. “I think it also adds an element of hunting for treasure.”

The bulk of the sales are in Lincoln City, but the hunt stretches all the way from Depoe Bay to Otis.

And even if your blood sugar gets low or your tummy starts to rumble, you don’t need to stop shopping.

“The Congregational Church is serving cookies and Evergreen Home Loans is serving hot dogs,” Arce-Torres said. “Also, the Gleneden Beach Club is having a bake sale as well as a regular sale at the community hall.”

The chamber takes great pride in the fact that the Great Oregon Coast Garage Sale is in line with the ethics to take care of the Earth by reusing items instead of having them head to the landfill.

“Like we always say, one person’s trash is another’s treasure,” Arce-Torres said.
