Home, shown on the Grange

After a significant facelift, the Fairview Grange in Tillamook is ready to host holiday-themed family art workshops on Saturday Nov. 20 and Saturday, Dec. 11.

The free workshops are presented by the Oregon Coast Children's Theatre & Center for the Arts, which has relocated from Toledo to the new-and-improved grange building.

This summer and fall, volunteers, students, staff, grange board members and family completed the first part of renovations on the more-than-100-year-old structure, including new paint and repairs to doors, windows and the front area of the building. Other repairs will continue this winter and into the spring, including a new disabled-accessible ramp donated by Tillamook Rotary.

A mural, “A Gathering at the Grange" was finished in September. Designed by Eric Sappington of Oceanside, the mural was completed by student artists, staff and volunteers, including student artists Simone Ferguson and Abigail Gingerich, and Reo Russell, who worked as Sappington's assistant.

The Oregon Coast Children's Theatre continues to operate in both Lincoln and Tillamook counties, and will be presenting a workshop at the Toledo Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 4.

For families and children that don't want to do in-person instruction, holiday art kits will also be available for pick up at both the Tillamook and Toledo locations. Patrons will have a choice to build greeting cards, mobiles and other holiday decorations and get to pick items from a smorgasbord of art supplies.

All workshops will run from 11 am to 4 pm. Fairview Grange is located at 5520 East 3rd Street, near the county fairgrounds. For more information, e-mail occt.youthartprograms@gmail.com or call 503-801-0603.
