After six weeks of closure, Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City will re-open this Friday, Jan. 15, with increased safety measures in place.

The Siletz Tribal Council made the decision to close the resort on Dec. 1 due to increased COVID-19 case numbers in Lincoln County.

“We know this is a challenging time for our community and team members,” said General Manager Michael S. Fisher. “We took time to ensure a safe reopening. We are ready to welcome all those who feel safe to visit.”

The casino will have modified hours to allow for daily cleaning and disinfecting of the property. The Executive Management team is regularly reviewing local coronavirus data and trends to provide recommendations to the Tribal Council as the situation changes.

Modified casino hours are from 10 am to 2 am Monday through Friday; and 8 am to 2 am on Saturday and Sunday. Occupancy is limited to 1,000 guests.

Everyone entering the facility will have their temperature taken using a no-contact infrared thermometer. Guests or staff who demonstrate signs of illness will be immediately removed from the building to seek health care.

Facemasks or face shields are required throughout the facility and markers are in place to ensure physical distancing. Mobile queuing is available to avoid lines.

There are increased health and hygiene reminders throughout the property, including signs showing the proper way to wear, handle and dispose of masks. Hand sanitizer dispensers are located at key guest and staff member contact areas.

Amenities on offer include slots, with 50 percent of machines available; bingo, with 300 maximum seating; Keno, table games, limited to three seats per table, every other table; sports wagering; and the deli, Rogue River Steakhouse, Siletz Bay Buffet and Chinooks Seafood Grill. Lodging will be open with no in-room daily stayover service and limited hotel lobby occupancy.

Child care, the arcade, entertainment, poker, daily buses and valet service remain suspended until further notice.
