Luau will you spend the weekend?

What better way to celebrate summer than with Polynesian drumming, hula dancers and an island feast?

The Annual Oceanview Senior Living Community Luau, one of Newport's iconic secret summer treats for many years, will be returning after a three-year absence this Friday, Aug. 18.

The party takes place in the Oceanview Senior Living patio, decorated by the Newport Master Gardeners.

World Beat percussionist Chandler Davis, who has been performing at the event for more than a dozen years, will present a special "Drums of the Islands" set featuring complex high-energy hand drumming rhythms and authentic traditional instruments from the Pacific Islands, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and other places around the world. Guests can also enjoy hula dancing and audience participation for all ages and skill levels.
