Forgive us for harping on…

The Celtic Music Series continues at the Lincoln City Cultural Center on Thursday, Nov. 4, with a performance by Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter.

Enjoy a spellbinding evening with this engaging, multi-instrumentalist duo, playing Celtic harps, Swedish nyckelharpa, Ukrainian bandura, bouzouki, cittern and more.

Both hail from Oregon and tour extensively, having successful recording and performing careers built from years of street performing and a background as rock musicians.

They have performed with some of the biggest names in folk and acoustic music and have sold more than a million albums combined. Audiences become spellbound and enchanted by their unique show of traditional and original music, with wondrous stories and humor entwined.

Lynne is a multi-instrumentalist and performer who has gained worldwide recognition for her original music featuring Celtic harp. She is widely acclaimed for composing memorable and heartwarming melodies that have repeatedly placed in the Top 10 and Top 20 on the Billboard New Age music charts.

She tours year-round performing at large US festivals and performing art centers. Her work in Therapeutic music has gained recognition from NBC, CNN and newspaper and magazine articles including the Wall Street Journal, and was recently named one of the 50 most inspiring women by Los Angeles Magazine.

Frankfurter’s musical endeavors began at the age of three, when he undertook classical training on the violin. His progress enabled him to study under various master violinists, including a concert master of the Chicago Symphony.

He participated both as a violinist and violist in a series of chamber music ensembles under the tutelage of internationally renowned cellist Bonnie Hampton, pianist Nathan Schwartz and teachers at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

At the age of 15, Frankfurter was introduced to the Celtic harp, an instrument which has become the focal point of his musical inspiration and expression. In the following years, he taught himself to play a variety of instruments including electric violin, viola, cello, guitar, cittern, mandolin, lap dulcimer and hammered dulcimer, bowed and plucked psaltry, penny whistle, baroque flute, recorder, percussion and more recently the Swedish Nyckelharpa.

He has 18 albums to his credit and has authored two books.

The music will continue to flow on Wednesday, Nov. 10, with AJ Lee and Blue Summit.

Led by singer, songwriter and mandolinist, AJ Lee, the Blue Summit bluegrass band has performed all over the world.

In 2019, they released their debut album, “Like I Used To.” Their second full length project, “I’ll Come Back” came out in August and the band has been on a national tour in support of the record since.

Unlike their first record, which featured experimentation with session musicians and electric instruments, the new project is a pure reflection of the live sound of the group, hearkening back to their acoustic roots.

Although falling loosely under the bluegrass label, the band generally plays sans banjo, with Sullivan Tuttle and Jesse Fichman on steel stringed acoustic guitars, AJ on mandolin, Jan Purat on fiddle and Chad Bowen on upright bass — a configuration effectively used to create unique space and texture in the arrangements not as commonly found in the music of their peers.

Winners of the 2019 FreshGrass Band competition, the group draws from influences such as country, soul, swing, rock and jam music, using the lens of bluegrass to express and explore the thread that binds and unifies all great music.

Both events start at 7 pm and have reserved, well-spaced table seating. Tickets are $22 general, $20 seniors/students, $15 for kids aged six to 18. LCCC Membership discount will apply. The Lincoln City Cultural Center is located at 540 NE Hwy. 101. For more information, go to LincolnCity-CulturalCenter.org or call 541-994-9994.
