Note to self,

Don’t miss these great gigs, as live music returns
to the Lincoln City Cultural Center

Live music is starting to re-emerge, and the Lincoln City Cultural Center is ready with two great events: an album release concert by singer-songwriter Rebecca Conner on Friday, May 7, and a live or streamed concert by the Ben Rosenblum Trio on Sunday, May 16.

A Lincoln City native, Conner is a jazz-trained guitarist and vocalist who stands out in the world of singer-songwriters. She utilizes her breadth of musical knowledge to draw from a multitude of genres and influences, mixing world-beats and funky grooves with soulful horns and folk delicacy.

Now residing in Portland, she is returning to her hometown to release her debut album “Wings.” After more than a decade studying jazz in college and playing in bands, her new project of original music is her most authentic sound yet. Conner is backed by a band of some of Portland’s finest jazz musicians including Grammy-winning trumpeter Charlie Porter. Leon Cotter, her partner and co-creator is on keys and horns, Arcellus Sykes is on bass and Kirk Kalbfleisch is on drums. Conner is supported by Portland songstress Eugenia Riot opening the show.

The Ben Rosenblum Trio is performing as part of the QuaranTunes hybrid concert series, which gives music lovers the option to enjoy the show in person at socially distanced tables in the auditorium, or at home with a VIP Live Stream ticket.

An internationally-touring jazz pianist and accordionist, Rosenblum returns to the Lincoln City Cultural Center to perform an intimate and exciting concert of improvised instrumental music as part of a three-stop tour in the Pacific Northwest.  The New York City-based multi-instrumentalist draws from an eclectic repertoire that includes selections from the jazz and popular music traditions as well as global music influences from South America, Eastern Europe, Ireland and the Caribbean. Rosenblum combines his modern, melodic sensibility with his broad knowledge of a variety of musical lineages from the past century. An award-winning composer and arranger, Rosenblum also includes selections from his extensive catalogue of original music. The trio never repeats the same program twice in a row — every evening is a unique experience shaped by the audience and the setting.  Join the Ben Rosenblum Trio for an evening of new and familiar songs, and be a part of a concert that will never happen in the same way again.

Both live events begin at 7 pm at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, 540 NE Hwy 101. Tickets range from $15 to $22. For more information, go to incolncity-culturalcenter.org or call 541-994-9994.
