Piano performance makes happy campers

Postponed to June 26

Renowned pianist Michael Allen Harrison will return to Lincoln City’s B’nai B’rith Camp with his All-Star Band to perform at the newly built amphitheater on Sunday, May 22.

The concert will support BB Camp’s work in the local community, particularly the popular BB Day Camp Lincoln City and the Lincoln City Food program.

For years, the local community has gathered at BB Camp for the Spaghetti Dinner in May. The concert replaces this event.

"Serving our community during this extraordinarily challenging time has been a true blessing,” Chief Executive Officer Michelle Koplan said. “Thanks to our committed community and many donors, we have been able to continue to do this important work.  We look forward to gathering the community to celebrate our community, raise needed funding, and enjoy the beautiful music of Michael Allen Harrison and his All Star Band.”

More than two-thirds of the children attending the BB Day Camp Lincoln City receive financial assistance through scholarships.

In 2013, B’nai B’rith Camp started providing free meals to nearby Lincoln County children eligible for free and reduced lunch through the USDA Summer Food Services Program. With increasing food insecurity in the state, it expanded to serving meals daily to local children at three locations in the county. Since June 2020, BB Camp has served more than 168,000 meals to kids.

Harrison, a BB Camp alumnus, is now a composer, songwriter and pianist based in Portland. He is known for his magical piano solo performances and recordings, his upbeat sound with his band, his work with inspiring vocalist Julianne Johnson and his skills producing and creating music for ballet, theater and film. Harrison is the founder and president of the Snowman Foundation, the Ten Grands concert series and the Christmas at the Old Church concert series, approaching its 25th season.

Concert guests will be required to show proof of vaccination and are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for socially distant festival-style seating.

The concert begins at 3 pm. Tickets are $20 per person or $40 for families.
