Put your music mode on shuffle
Beat feet down to the Yachats Commons Pavilion this Sunday, June 20, for the Summer Solstice Shuffle, featuring live music, food and beverages.
All you need to bring are your dancing shoes, a lawn chair, a bowl for free popcorn and maybe some cash for a beer or two.
Enjoy an afternoon of music on the longest day of the year provided by Barbara Lee and Franki T, the June Rushing Quartet and the Weird Science Boyz.
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Barbara Lee Turrill has performed solo and in bands for more than 35 years, including 10 years with Rick Bartow and The Backseat Drivers and, more recently, with The Dalbey Gang. Her duo, Barbara Lee and Franki T, features Franki Trujillo-Dalbey on bass. Her recent release, “Southbound Door,” is a collection of original songs written over the past 50 years. Her music is genuine, award-winning, lovingly crafted and unforgettable.
Trujillo-Dalbey has been playing music since she was a teenager. She is the bass player for The Dalbey Gang in addition to her position as the other half of Barbara Lee and Franki T.
Singer and songwriter June Rushing and guitarist husband Joren Rushing are celebrating 25 years of playing music on the Oregon Coast. This will be their first post-pandemic performance. Rounding out the quartet are pianist Steve Burkle and multi-instrumentalist Robin Remaily. The group performs a wide variety of styles and songs, from Patsy Cline and Marty Robbins to the Beatles and the Grateful Dead, with style, passion, skill and a whole lot of heart.
Weird Science Boyz is the power trio of Kevin Strever on vocals and guitar, Ronnie Jay Pirrello, vocals and bass and Richard Robitaille on drums.
The band presents a high-energy, dance-oriented costumed show that showcases their infectious love for the songs of the ’80s.
Guests are welcome to listen and dance in the grassy areas around the pavilion and on the asphalt parking lot adjacent to the pavilion.
The Summer Solstice Shuffle is happening from 1 to 5 pm at the Yachats Commons, 441 N Hwy. 101. For more information, go to www.polly plumb.org.
