Putting their talents to youth

The Equinox Quartet

Get three concerts for the price of none this Sunday, March 12, when two University of Oregon graduate classical music student quartets and the Tigard High School Orchestra present a free chamber concert at Newport’s Atonement Lutheran Church.

The Sequana String Quartet is made up of violinists Megan Frasier and Madison Vanderwall, cellist Austin Bennett and Adam Fishburn on the viola. They will perform Mendelssohn’s “String Quartet in A Minor, op.13.”

The Equinox String Quartet is composed of violinists Allison Quade and Tera Murdock, cellist Titus Young and Anthony Salazar on viola. They will perform Beethoven’s “String Quartet, op.59 #1.”

The Tigard High School Orchestra, under the direction of teacher James Irving, will perform “Fledermaus Waltz” by Johann Strauss; “Serenade for Strings op. 20 mvmt.1.” by Edward Elgar; Beethoven's “Allegretto” from "The Creature of Prometheus;" and "Jupiter'' by Gustav Holst.

Sunday’s concert begins at 2 pm at Atonement Lutheran Church, located at 2315 N Hwy. 101 in Newport. For more information and videos of past performances, go to youthsymphonyfestival.org.
