Shawl we go?

The Fiber Arts Studio Gallery in Lincoln City is always awash with color, now more than ever thanks to the current trunk show, featuring woven items from Linda Gettmann and Charlene Virts, on display and for sale through April 23.

Get a glimpse into the processes of the uber-talented Gettmann, who will be weaving in-person and answering questions on Saturday, March 26.

Gettmann is a veteran crafter who escaped a corporate job to have more time for her passions: weaving and knitting. She enjoys creating all types of items with a focus on function and beauty, including cotton towels, table runners, silk and tencel scarves, wool and rayon shawls and quilted place mats.

An avid fiber nut, she has taught weaving for the past 15 years at many fiber festivals, regional guilds and yarn stores. Since 2013, her woven designs have often been featured in Handwoven Magazine. She is always on the lookout for new ideas and experiments in the realm of fiber arts and belongs to the Central Oregon Spinners and Weavers Guild and Portland Handweavers Guild.

She sells her creations at local art fairs and boutiques under the name “Fiber Art Designs.”

The weaving demonstration will be from 11 am to 4 pm in the Fiber Arts Studio Gallery, located inside the Lincoln City Cultural Center at 540 NE Hwy. 101. The center is open from 10 am to 4 pm, Thursday through Sunday. For more information, go to lincolncity-culturalcenter.org or call 541-994-9994.
