Simply the Crest

A beachcrest is the point on the beach where high tide storm waves end their run. It is the transition point between sand and sea, land and the ocean.

Five years ago this week, Amy and Matt White transitioned from musicians to musicians/small business owners when they opened Beachcrest Brewing Company in the back corner of the Salishan Marketplace south of Lincoln City.

Proving to have a winning recipe, the couple added an inviting open area with outdoor heaters just in time for pandemic limitations. Next, they added a pizza oven to expand their food offerings.

Now, they are celebrating their fifth anniversary with a New Year’s Eve party, this Sunday, Dec. 31, that will also introduce people to the new space next door.

“It’s going to be a loosely topical, Tiki-style room,” Amy said. “Basically, our little Tiki room is getting a little grander. It’s going to be called the tsunami room and can be used as a private party space and where we will have our trivia nights and live music.”

Sunday’s party will include music, food and a special beer release.

Gabe Hess will play country and soul from 2 to 4 pm, then the swing era sounds of the Lincoln Pops Little Big Band will entertain the crowd from 6 pm to right before the countdown at 9 pm, or “East Coast New Year’s.”

The special five-year anniversary beer is a Belgian Tripel, with notes of honey mixed with hints of fresh fruit, a whiff of banana and the herbal spice of old-world hops.

To promote safe driving, there will be complimentary non-alcoholic drinks served for the whole day.

Though the pizza choices at Beachcrest are normally set, a special raffle for a “Golden Ticket,” will award the winner the chance to choose whatever toppings they want in any combination for the whole year.

“People will be encouraged to dance,” Amy said. “It’s just going to have a fun, New Year’s Eve party vibe.”

The all-ages event will run from noon to 9 pm. Beachcrest Brewing Company is located in the Salishan Marketplace at 7755 N Hwy. 101. For more information, go to beachcrestbrewing.com.
