Sounds appealing

The Oregon Coast Learning Institute will kick off its fall term at Chapel by the Sea in Lincoln City on Tuesday, Sept. 5, with “God, Guns, Gays, and Affirmative Action” by Brent Burford.

Burford’s talk will bypass political conversation and instead take a look at the legal issues in these hotly contested matters. The lecture will be followed by a question-and-answer period that will end at 12:30 pm. Buford is a retired attorney and a recurring speaker at OCLI.

His talk will be preceded by a free coffee and cookies reception at 9 am will give visitors, new members and longstanding members an opportunity to meet.

Other topics that will be covered this term include Chautaqua, Humans and Jellyfish, the Clarinet, Yakona Preserve and Community Hazard Preparedness.

OCLI is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization in Lincoln County made up of retired men and women who desire to continue to stimulate their intellectual interests in an atmosphere of shared learning. Visitors are always welcome to attend a full day’s presentations for free. The annual membership dues of $90 cover 12 Tuesdays in fall and the 12 in winter starting the first Tuesday in January, 2024.

Because each week’s topics are different, members are not required to attend every session.

OCLI sessions on each Tuesday have two topics, beginning at 9:30 am and ending at 12:30 pm. Chapel by the Sea is located at 2125 SE Lee Avenue in Lincoln City.
