Tools for creating a happy and healthy life aren’t always easy to find. And often when found, not always easy to use, so a guide in these cases can be invaluable. A new energy and wellness center in Gleneden Beach, run by mother-and-daughter team Jaya Sarada and Arielle Beauduy, offers guided practices like Yoga, energy healing and meditation.
“We are very new but we are growing,” Beauduy said. “But the big thing we’re excited about right now is our grand opening.”
The event, on Saturday, Oct. 15, will have live music by local acoustic guitarist Steve Cook, snacks, baked goods by Sirens teahouse, a mini yoga class, a group sound healing and a guided meditation. There will be a kids’ craft table and opportunities for people of all ages to create personal affirmation cards and gemstone bags. Purchase a raffle ticket for $5 for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to use for any of the services or products offered at the center.
Specials will also be offered on aura pictures and other services and products.
Beauduy, yoga director and instructor, blends her knowledge of energy healing, movement and mindfulness into her classes. When she was 18 and living in India, she studied at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta ashram in Kerala. Upon returning to the US, she received a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. Since then she has received additional yoga and nutritional certifications and has become a reiki practitioner.
“Our target market is people who don’t necessarily know about yoga but want to improve their flexibility, strength and overall well-being, whether they are completely mobile or in a wheelchair.” she said. “I’ve had multiple people come in asking about chair yoga already. It’s very beneficial for increased mobility, balance, stress release and can help improve your overall health, helping you to feel better — I’m excited to help more people discover that. We also offer classes for those who are wanting to dive deeper into their yoga journey”
Sarada has created a testing and healing method to map energy fields and pinpoint physical, energetic or spiritual remedies that might be needed to bring the system back into balance. Her work also focuses on soul guidance, which helps people to align with their soul’s potential. She has a masters’ degree in transpersonal psychology and has deeply studied energy fields, kinesiology and body, mind, spirit integration.
“The key to the work I do is finding blocks in people’s energy and helping to clear them,” she said. “Learning the healing arts to help others has been my life’s work after trying to heal wounds I’ve had myself. I found that many tools offered are just Band Aids, so I sought to discover the core truth about how to make more lasting changes. I work with a lot of people that have scars and wounds in their energy field. If you can create a direct relationship to healing that wound it becomes a very powerful process.”
Much of Sarada’s work is based on the principle that energy follows thought.
“When we solidify an energy based on beliefs like ‘I am ill, I am depressed, I am unworthy,’ that stem from past traumas, it can lock us into the old patterns of feeling these things. So, the radical work is to change those thoughts with the affirmations like, ‘I am well,’ and begin creating something that changes the story. Even if you don’t at first believe it, your energy will follow that affirmation rather than being stuck in those old patterns.”
After any type of healing session, Sarada uses different ways to create a sustaining feeling of well-being and peace for the client.
“My mom’s services and sessions are really helpful,” Beauduy said. “She fills a healer role, but people get real-life tools from her too. I appreciate that because life is really hard for a lot of people, even here in the US.”
The space also includes a gift shop called the Joyful Living Boutique.
“We offer more unique types of gifts, mostly local, natural, hand-made and environmentally friendly as much as possible,” Beauduy said. “Some of the things we carry we created ourselves like chakra greeting cards, essential oil blends and the books that my mom wrote or that we co-authored.”
One of the books Sarada is particularly proud of is the energy manual, “Well Being in Body, Mind and Spirit”.
“This came from my years of training in kinesiology,” she said. “Chakras have been my main modality and this book, as well as our co-authored book ‘Awakening Your Chakras,’ helps people learn about what chakras are, and which ones might need a reboot.”
If you are unsure whether the teachers are right for you, “meet” them online first.
“We are going to be sharing easy and useful ways for people to learn how to breathe or exercises they can do to feel more energized once a week on both Instagram and Facebook,” Beauduy said. “We are calling it ‘Well-being Wednesdays.’”
In person gentle introductions include “Inspirational Saturdays,” when you can come in for reduced price “tune ups,” and, on Sundays, guided meditations and sound healing.
“It’s empowering to discover different modalities to get help,” Beauduy said. “The medical industry can provide solutions, but people need that personal connection, too. And for mental health issues it’s more difficult. It can also be very disheartening for people to find out that the main options don’t work for them. We are just trying to help people find community, find joy and find well-being.”
The grand opening is from 1 to 5 pm. The Luminous Soul Center is located at 6645 Gleneden Beach Loop and you can find them on Instagram at luminoussoulscenteroregon and on Facebook at Luminous Soul Center Oregon. For more information, go to luminoussoulcenter.com or call 541-921-3362.
