This is chow we do it

Enjoy some nibbles of food and dribbles of wine while raising funds to buy kibbles during a special fund-raising reception at Gleneden Beach’s Side Door Café on Wednesday, June 14.

The afternoon event, co-sponsored by Evergreen Home Loans, will also feature a raffle, photo booth and more.

The reception is a fund-raiser for the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, which will receive 100 percent of the proceeds.

“We are really excited about and grateful for this upcoming event,” Shelter Manager Sara Wynveen said. “It’s going to be so much fun. We likely won’t have any dogs or cats with us, because we generally don’t bring them when it’s a food situation, but I will have flyers of all our currently adoptable animals as well as adoption forms.”

As many may have heard by now, the shelter will soon be moving south from its current home in Newport.

“Our new facility will be in Waldport,” Wynveen said. “The County is still in the process of purchasing the land and, once that happens, the design process should happen pretty quickly. We hope to have the groundbreaking in the fall.”

Wednesday’s event will run from 1 to 3 pm at 6675 Gleneden Beach Loop. Tickets, $20, are available by emailing thesidedoorcafe@gmail.com.
