Wear can I get one of those?

View some real statement pieces at “Creative Wearables,” a new exhibit by a subgroup of fiber artists from the Portland-based Columbia Fiber Arts Guild, now on show at the Lincoln City Cultural Center’s Fiber Arts Studio and Gallery.

The show will begin with an opening reception this Friday, Jan. 6, and run through March 19.

Creative Wearables members are passionate about their craft and dedicated to the concept of making functional, wearable, artistic clothing and accessories. Their aim is to connect, inspire and educate others about the skill, craft and creative fun involved in making clothing.

The exhibit features selections from sewing challenges with themes including, “Metaphor on Marriage" and “Upcycled/Reused,” and will show examples of skirts making a statement about the designer’s life, challenges and achievements, garments designed and sewn using silk from donated wedding dresses and pieces made from recycled and reconstructed garments.

The Fiber Arts Studio is inside the Lincoln City Cultural Center, located at 540 NE Hwy. 101 and open from 10 am to 4 pm, Thursday through Sunday.
