Well worth the visit
‘Tis the season at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, where staff and volunteers invite you to drop by and enjoy the festive decorations as well as the new exhibit of sculptures made from marine debris, “Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea.”
You're also encouraged to come back for one of the center’s holiday stage productions, including the third performance in the Celtic Music series, “A Celtic Christmas with Men of Worth.”
Though the show has two scheduled live performances, the first is sold out. You can still get your Irish on, however, on Friday, Dec.10 — as of press time there were still 20 seats left for the Friday matinée.
The name "Men of Worth" was chosen from the title of a folk song written by the Scottish singer-songwriter Archie Fisher. James Keigher and Donnie Macdonald blend their voices with harmony and support their collection of folk music from Ireland and Scotland with their varied selection of instruments. They have a very simple approach to their presentation, and in keeping with tradition, remain true to the music and story. Their show is a unique combination of humor, exciting tunes and soulful, heartfelt ballads.
Men of Worth are an international act, and have earned much respect and success in more than 30 years of touring together. They have 12 albums to their credit.
For their Lincoln City holiday concerts, Men of Worth will be joined by Celtic harpist Maureen Brennan and fiddler Kevin Carr, along with champion Irish step dancer Kelsey Wilson O’Bryan.
Friday’s concert begins at 2 pm. Tickets, $35 for adults, $32 for seniors and students and $20 for kids aged six to 18, are available online or by calling 541-994-9994. All guests aged 18 and older must present proof of COVID vaccination.
The Lincoln City Cultural Center is located at 540 NE Hwy. 101 and is open from 10 am to 4 pm, Thursday through Sunday. For more information, go to lincolncity-culturalcenter.org.
