She may live in Boring, but there is nothing boring about Elizabeth Fournier, aka: The Green Reaper. At the forefront of the green burial movement, her humor and gentle style help people make literally out-of-the box decisions about the disposal of their own remains.
Fournier will address everything you want to know about green burial during the talk, “How to Die Green on the North Coast” in Nehalem this Saturday, April 27.
She will provide comprehensive and compassionate guidance, covering everything from green burial planning and home funeral basics to legal guidelines and options like burials at sea.
Often more affordable, green burial practices also consider the environmental well-being of the planet by preventing the millions of tons of wood, concrete and metals, as well as millions of gallons of carcinogenic embalming fluid, buried annually by conventional practices.
Fournier is the author of “The Green Burial Guidebook: Everything You Need to Plan
an Affordable, Environmentally Friendly Burial,” “The Green Reaper: Memoirs of an Eco-Mortician” and “All Men are Cremated Equal.”
She is a member of the Advisory Board for the Green Burial Council and is the owner and operator of Cornerstone Funeral Services in Boring.
The event is presented by Conscious Aging and Community Connections in Manzanita. Fournier will have copies of her books available for purchase.
The presentation will begin at 2 pm in the North Coast Recreation District Gallery located at 36155 9th Street in Nehalem. Entry fee is $10 cash at the door. For more information, go to thegreenreaper.org.
