You’ll lava great time at this movie
The Bijou Theatre in Lincoln City shows films that range from small indie flicks to major blockbusters. And most years, they also quietly host a locally made, feel-good film about a class of kids guided by their art teacher on a journey of the imagination.
This Saturday, May 4, go on "The Volcano Adventure." The movie stars the students of the 10-week long Art Smart classes at the Artists' Studio Association, led by Krista Eddy.
It tells the story of a volcano that creates a new island off the coast of Lincoln City. In the aftermath, a fisherman gets lost on the island and these art students band together and go to the island to rescue him — finding much more than expected along the way.
The kids will tell the story and show off their artwork, which ranges from pastel drawings to watercolor paintings to stop-gap animation. Tickets are free to all Art Smart Students and their siblings but adults are encouraged to donate $10, which will all go back into the program.
The movie starts at 11 am and has a run time of roughly 30 minutes. The Bijou Theatre is located at 1624 NE Hwy. 101 in Lincoln City.
