This trip is really Salmon special
A boat ride through the Salmon River estuary offers a chance to explore one of the Oregon Coast's most ecologically significant landscapes this Saturday, June 13.
Hosted by the Cascade Head Biosphere Collaborative, the Salmon River Estuary Tours combine a 45-minute cruise aboard a 22-passenger U.S. Coast Guard-certified pontoon boat with a guided exploration of the lower estuary.
Departing from Knight Park, the tours introduce participants to the natural and cultural history of the region, covering topics ranging from Native peoples and local geology to the plants and animals that depend on the estuary. Guides will also discuss the Cascade Head UNESCO Biosphere Region, one of only a handful of designated biosphere reserves in the United States.
The lower Salmon River estuary is recognized as one of the most intact estuaries on the Oregon Coast and provides critical habitat for fish, birds and other wildlife.
Saturday’s tours depart at 11:30 am, 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm. Tickets are $39 for adults and $19 for kids.
