A show to re-member

Members Show 2017 (1)(1).jpg

There are many talented artists clustered in a small strip of scenic coastline here on the Central Oregon Coast, and their works can be seen in many area galleries and shops. But let's face it, driving around on the coast in the summer isn’t for the faint of heart.

Luckily, it’s time for the Lincoln City Cultural Center’s annual Members Art Show, which showcases new artwork made exclusively by current members and includes a wide variety of styles and mediums. And this year the show, opening in the Chessman Gallery on Friday, July 9, is one of four new exhibits opening on that day, all within a stone’s throw of each other.

The Members Art Show will kick off with an in-person opening reception at the Chessman Gallery, starting at 5 pm this Friday.

To add to the fun, the cultural center’s Fiber Arts Studio will be having an opening reception for its newest exhibit by the American Tapestry Alliance at the same time.

Across the street, both the Beachstone Gallery and the Pacific Artists’ Co-op Gallery will also be having opening receptions. The new show at the Beachstone Gallery, “Ebb and Flow,” features works from the gallery’s time-honored Summer Juried Show.

Beachstone Gallery and the Artists Co-op are both located at 620 NE Hwy. 101. For more information, go to asaart.clubexpress.com or www.pacificartco-op.com.

For more than 25 years, the cultural center has brought people together in the spirit of arts and culture. Housed in the historic DeLake School building, it is home to diverse artistic disciplines and genres across the visual and performing arts. By becoming a member, you will join the large family of people that have made it possible for the center to grow and thrive and continue to offer programming that connects, inspires us and fills the community with joy. Membership also comes with benefits such as $2 off tickets, complimentary tickets, the quarterly members-only newsletter and entry to the members show in the Chessman Gallery.

If you miss the opening of the Chessman Gallery show, the reception will also be shown as a virtual tour on the center’s Facebook page.

The Chessman Gallery, located inside the Lincoln City Cultural Center at 540 NE Hwy. 101, is open Thursday through Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm.

For more information, including how to become a member so you can show your art in next year’s show, go to lincolncity-culturalcenter.org or call 541-994-9994.

The current Members Art Show will be on display Sunday, Aug. 8.
