Blackfish fare resurfaces at benefit gala

When the Blackfish Café closed its doors on Jan. 1 after almost 25 years as a coastal culinary landmark, some loyal customers might have feared they would never again be able to savor the establishment’s perfectly prepared salmon.

But Chef Josh Anderson and the kitchen crew will perform an encore performance of sorts this Saturday, Jan. 20, when they volunteer their time to cater a Silent Auction & Dinner Gala benefiting local students.

The formal event, presented by the Taft Senior Parent Group, will raise funds for this year’s drug- and alcohol-free graduation party.

Guests will be treated to live music and a meal starting with the classic Blackfish Caesar Salad. Entrée options include Skillet Roasted Salmon, Organic Grilled Chicken Breast, and Potato Gnocchi with Butternut Squash. The meal concludes with a berry cobbler served with fresh, house-made whipped cream.

A silent auction will feature items donated from local businesses including Diamonds by the Sea, Rejuvenations Spa, The Adventure Collective, My Petite Sweet, Coastal Home Company, North Lincoln Sanitary Service, Lincoln City Glass Center and many more.

The event will run from 6 to 9 pm at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, 540 NE Hwy. 101.

Tickets, $75, are available by emailing taftseniorperents24@gmail.com.
