Endocannabinoid System. Many of you have probably heard this term by now. We will call it ECS for short. So, what is the ECS?

The ECS is a system in our body that essentially sends and receives signals, helping to regulate many of our body systems. The ECS has been shown to play a role in regulating appetite and digestion, chronic pain, inflammation and other immune system responses, mood, learning and memory, sleep, bone growth, stress response, skin and nerve function, liver function, and much more.

This system is so important that our bodies actually make their own cannabinoids. These are called endogenous cannabinoids.

So, what role does cannabis play in all of this? Cannabis is full of different cannabinoids that interact with and nourish the ECS. Like the cannabinoids that our bodies make, these different cannabinoids found in cannabis all play a unique role when interacting with the ECS. Some of the most commonly known cannabinoids found in cannabis are THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabidiol).

THC is the molecule in cannabis known for producing the “high”. CBD is known for being a non-intoxicating molecule.

There are so many different cannabinoids within the cannabis plant, and more is being learned all the time about how they interact with the ECS. It’s really quite amazing when you think about the fact that there is a plant that interacts so synergistically with this very important system in our bodies.

I invite you to learn more and continue to nourish your ECS. Please join us for a CBD Tea Party, hosted by Canna Honey CBD and A Perfect Peace. This event will take place on Saturday, June 5, in Newport at 4:20 pm. Come taste the magic of CBD honey and have the opportunity to ask your questions to Janna Champagne, cannabis nurse. Please register at eocevents.com, as there is limited space available.

Also, please check out Coastal Cannabinoids dispensary in Waldport. They are dedicated to sourcing high-quality cannabis products.
