Creative types welcome at Lincoln City Archery

Take a shot at finding a favorite new author when Lincoln City Archery hosts Oregon author T.M. Brenner this Saturday and Sunday to celebrate the release of his latest book, “The Pan-Galactic Misadventures of Dick Blowhard.”

Just released in October, the novel is a genre-mashing tale of bar fighting with unicorns, galaxy traveling, space battles and cursed toys that come to life. The comedy/sci-fi fantasy adventure features adult comedy, so reader beware. Those who enjoy “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” will love Brenner’s new offering.

“When Brenner came to shoot with us and told me he was an indie author living in the Portland area, I knew we needed to feature him for a weekend book signing,” Lincoln City Archery owner Shad Engkilterra said. “Indie authors produce some of the most original work out there, and Brenner is a prime example of that.”

Lincoln City Archery features a selection of independent authors at its indoor archery range and retail store at the Lincoln City Outlets. These are books that are generally not found in larger bookstores.

“With so many people screaming for originality in TV and movies, it’s important to support those that are creating those new stories,” Engkilterra said. “It’s hard for those voices not connected with already successful IP [intellectual property] or a media conglomerate to find the space to make some noise.”

Brenner will be meeting with fans and signing copies of his new book, as well as others of his eight published works, including “Luminaries,” and the “Clandestined” and "Sky Child” trilogies.

The book signing will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, Nov. 20, and from noon to 2 pm on Sunday, Nov. 21. Lincoln City Archery is located in the Lincoln City Outlets, 1500 SE East Devils Lake Road. For more information, go to penguinate.com.
