Get set for the first Central Coast tennis tournament of the season at the Winter Waves Mixed Doubles Classic, held at the Salishan Tennis Center Friday, Feb. 23, through Sunday, Feb. 25.

The entry deadline for this limited-entry event, featuring three levels of mixed doubles, is Thursday, Feb. 15. Entry fees are $48 per player and include dinner Saturday night at Salishan Coastal Lodge.

“This is our first tournament of the year and it’s a great way to start the season,” coordinator Elizabeth Smith said. “People come in from places like Eugene, Bend and Keizer. It’s exciting because many tournaments don’t have dinners. We will have volunteers that will greet you and there will be a raffle at the awards dinner. I went to a tournament in Ashland earlier this year and it was somewhat impersonal — ours are really fun.”

Those who just want to watch the event are also welcome.

“The Salishan Tennis Center is a nice facility with a great viewing area,” Smith said. “When people come to watch it really adds to the energy.”
