Don’t hang around too long

The bidding has begun, but you can still bring home a banner created by one of 36 Oregon Coast artists.

After hanging around through the summer on antique lamp posts in Yachats, the roughly 23-by-42-inch canvas banners are up for auction, with the hammer set to fall on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Once the banners come down and prior to them heading to their final homes, Yachats based artist Michael Guerriero prepares them with touch-ups and repairs to fix any damage caused while they were on display.

Guerriero also coordinated this year’s project, which had the theme, “What’s Inside Gets Out at Yachats.”

Participating artists all live in or within a 15-mile radius of Yachats, which shows the breadth of talent in the area.

“Nearly half of the artists involved are new to the project,” Guerriero said. “We have another successful creative year, with many exciting original images.”

The funds raised by the project go to a local arts education and projects, including a new recipient, the Waldport based Alsea Bay Center for the Arts.
