Don’t path up the chance to weigh in

If you have been hearing talk about the exciting new park being created in Lincoln City’s Taft District and would like to know more, the Lincoln City Parks and Recreation Department is offering another opportunity to look behind the curtain.

At the Wednesday, Feb. 28, open house at the Lincoln City Community Center the department will unveil plans for the first inclusive and accessible playground in Lincoln City.

“Lincoln City Parks and Recreation is committed to providing equitable access to parks and recreation facilities, and this inclusive playground is one of the many ways we’re working hard to be accessible to all,” Director Jeanne Sprague said. “We hope to have lots of public input on our new playground design and equipment.”

After a viewing of renderings of the playground and images of proposed play equipment, community members with access and functional needs are especially encouraged to give their input on the overall playground design and equipment before finalization of design. This event will be ASL interpreted.

The plan for breaking ground on playground construction is this fall.

Travel Oregon has shown its support of this new inclusive playground with a $100,000 grant. Lincoln City’s Christmas Cottage has also committed financial support for one of the play zones in the new playground.

The house opens at 5:30 pm at the Lincoln City Community Center, located at 2150 NE Oar Place in Lincoln City. A Zoom meeting option will also be available. For more information, go to lincolncity.org.
