Meet the towering figures in British mystery
Delve into the fascinating world of the “Queens of British Mystery” at Newport Public Library on Thursday, Feb. 29.
The period during the early 20th Century when the genre of the “Clue-Puzzle” novel achieved its zenith is regarded as the Golden Age of English language mystery novels. Six women, five from Great Britain and one New Zealander, are generally considered the “Queens of Mystery” from their dominance of that period and the vast compendium of literature that they left behind. The British authors were: Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, Josephine Tey, Margery Allingham, P.D. James and the lone Kiwi, Ngaio Marsh.
Presenter Dr. Conrad Schmitt is a retired US Department of State regional medical officer and has been a resident of Gleneden Beach since 2011.
