Focusing on art in Lincoln City

Celebrate spring this Friday, April 7, with an open house at the Pacific Artists' Gallery and Artist Studio Association in Lincoln City.

Guitarist Roger Decarlo will provide a jazz- and flamenco-inspired backdrop for this reveal of many new artists and works of art, including bronze and wood; oil, acrylic, encaustic and watercolor painting; assemblage art; ceramics; fused and stained glass; photography; stone and glass-blown jewelry.

This is the perfect opportunity to shop for Easter, Mother's Day, graduation or to bring home a vacation memento.

Live art demonstrations will be given by Josh Bryant and Catherine Hingson, who is also the gallery’s April featured artist. Her expanded display will feature impressionistic paintings that exemplify the beauty of the coastal area. She will be demonstrating with oils and discussing plein air painting.

Bryant’s painting style lends a decidedly modern aesthetic to the traditional alla prima method. His ethereal portraits and still lifes transcend the expected, reflecting the true essence of his subjects.

Both artists are among the instructors teaching ASA classes this quarter. A complete roster of those courses, instructors and registration will be available at the event. The show will also highlight the gallery’s newest members: Diane Devens, acrylics; Sam Jacobsen, ceramics; David Pfrimmer, woodwork; Michelle Galli, fused glass; and Jeremy Burke, photography.

The Pacific Artists’ Co-op Gallery is an artist-owned collaborative of 30 juried artists working in a variety of media to create unique works of art. The Artists’ Studio Association is a nonprofit community of artists dedicated to bringing arts education and enjoyment to students of all ages and walks of life. Artists from both organizations will be on hand for the event.

Friday’s show and open house is from 5 to 7 pm at the Pacific Artists’ Co-op Gallery, located on Highway 101 at NE 6th Drive, across the street from the Lincoln City Cultural Center.
