Have a jolly brolly Christmas

Toledo has celebrations to kick off the Christmas holiday well and truly covered.

This Saturday, Nov. 26, join the lighted umbrella parade down Main Street to the front of Cobblestone Pizza for the annual lighting of the Christmas tree.

The parade will feature brollies blinged out in festive style, many created by kids in recent workshops at Toledo Public Library.

Immediately following the tree-lighting everyone is invited to a community party at the Toledo Elks Lodge. Santa will be there, along with cookies, hot cocoa and holiday crafts for kids.

The first 50 people to arrive for the parade will receive a three-foot strand of lights for their umbrella.

The parade will begin at 4:30 pm in front of Advertee’s at 363 N Main Street. Judging for the decorated umbrella contest begins at 4 pm, with the winner in the 17 and younger category scoring a Star Wars Lego Advent Calendar and the 18 and older winner receiving a $50 gift card to JC Thriftway in Toledo. Prizes will be awarded at the tree lighting.

Main Street will be closed for the parade. Parking is available at the Port of Toledo, the Elks Lodge and along the streets that branch off Main Street. The Toledo Elks Lodge is located at 123 Alder Street.
