The Alexander String Quartet

If the word “chapel” makes you think of stony silence and contemplation, think again. The Chapel at Camp Winema just south of Pacific City is noted for its excellent acoustics, which will be center stage as the Neskowin Chamber Music series returns for its 27th year.

The series will kick off on Sunday, Oct. 22, with a performance from the Alexander String Quartet, widely admired for its interpretations of Beethoven, Mozart and Shostakovich. The group’s recordings have won international critical acclaim.

On Sunday, Nov. 5, the series will welcome the Manderling String Quartet, whose numerous recordings and nominations for the International Classical Music Awards all testify to its outstanding quality and wide-ranging repertoire.

The series will start the new year with a performance by Spanish Brass on Sunday, Jan. 21, at a different venue, the Kiwanda Community Center, 34600 Cape Kiwanda Drive, Pacific City. With more than 33 years in the world of chamber music, Spanish Brass is one of the most dynamic and consolidated groups on the international music stage.

On Sunday, Feb. 18, the series will return to the chapel, with a performance from vibrant chamber ensemble Windsync. This Houston-based group performs wind quintet masterworks, adapting beloved music to its instrumentation and championing new works by today’s composers.

Boston Trio will perform on Sunday, March 17. Passionately committed to creating exceptional and daring performances, this group performs both standard and contemporary repertoires.

On Sunday, April 21, the series will present an afternoon of cello and piano from the Kouzov Duo. Known for their passionate and musical interpretations, Dmitry Kouzov and Yulia Fedoseeva have performed together as well as soloists in chamber music performances worldwide.

The series will conclude on Sunday, May 19, with a performance from the Telegraph String Quartet, which performs standard chamber music, contemporary and non-standard repertoires with equal passion.
