The most(ly) fun you’ll have all week

You will be completely amused by “Almost, Maine,” presented by Lincoln City’s Theatre West from Thursday, Oct. 27, through Saturday, Nov. 19.

This charming series of vignettes written by John Cariani, an American actor best known as the unwavering forensic expert Julian Beck in “Law and Order.”

The play represents director Amanda Megyes-McCave’s first adventure with Theatre West, but she is no novice to the director’s chair. She brings years of experience from Montana as she directs these nine vignettes on love and loss in the remote, mythical “almost” town of Almost, Maine.

One cold, clear winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal and the hearts mend — almost — in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

The cast is Ren Jacob as Pete, Julie Fiedler as Gayle, Hazel Fiedler as Marvalyn and Gavin Suckow as Steve. Turning in performances as multiple characters are Robin Kirsch as Ginnette and Marci, Christina Contreras as Sandrine and Rhonda, Sean Tonner as Jimmy and Dave, Bryan Kirsch as Lendall and Phil, Alice Luchau as Hope and Deena, Dave Jones as East and Man and Bonnie Ross as Glory, Waitress and Shelly.

Performances of “Almost, Maine” begin at 7:30 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, with a 2 pm matinée on Sunday, Nov 13. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors 60 and older and $12 for students 12 and younger.

Theatre West is located at 3536 SE Hwy. 101. For more information, go to theatrewest.com or call 541-994-5663.
