Newport in Bloom

Celebrate spring with music, dance and more

It started as the bud of an idea, then blossomed into a full event packed with dancing, shopping, activities and more. The second annual Bloom Newport community celebration will once again take place at the Newport Performing Arts Center this Saturday, May 20.

Bloom Newport celebrates the creativity, culture, cuisine, community and commerce that makes the town unique and vibrant. Saturday’s event will feature a performance by Herencia Mexicana Folklorico Dance and the return of the popular Silent Disco, featuring DJ Chilango and DJ Crew.

Refreshments will be on hand in the form of a beer garden featuring Rogue, Beachcrest, Yachats and Wolf Tree breweries, plus food trucks, including island-fare-favorite The Tastee Tiki.

Guests can take part in community conversation in the “Saturday Salon” with Valerie Davisson; or an industry expert-led panel conversation on universal access; or check out the Human Library presented by the Newport Public Library

Other activities include family-friendly games, a surf swap hosted by Newport Surf Shop and hands-on creative fun on the Oregon Coast Art Bus.

Guests will also discover local artists, merchants and community organizations, including Michael Carr Photography, Rogue Witch Apothecary, Hen Hill Handmade, Moana Hau, Bulldog Blooms Farm, Jenni Remillard, Sterncastle Publishing, Shirt Happens, Fair Plum Makers, By the Sun Moon & Sea, Project Bravery/Ollala Center, Lincoln County Health & Human Services and the Newport Recreation Center.

This is a great opportunity to enjoy some fabulous food and festivities and to connect as a community.

The fun will blossom from 3 to 7 pm at the Newport Performing Arts Center, located at 777 W Olive Street. For more information, go to coastarts.org/bloom.
