Nourish your style at Flourish

“At Flourish, our favorite thing to do is help women find their style,” said owner Karry Blodgette.

The large retail space is captivating with a thoughtful decor. Gold accents border the dark walls, perfectly contrasting the bright neon signs saying “Flourish.” But the real highlight, of course, is the clothes.

Blodgette opened Flourish boutique in the Lincoln City Outlets in May of 2021, revamping the space with her friend Amber Taunton, owner of nearby home furnishings boutique, Ginger Roots. It has since grown to become a beloved, go-to store for women of all sizes, styles and ages.

“Our hope is that all types of women can walk in and see herself in our clothes,” Blodgette said. “You have a boho arts style? We’ve got it. You’re a country girl? We’ve got that too. Need more traditional clothes or a stylish blazer for work? We’ve got you covered.”

But Flourish does not stop at simply providing a wide array of feminine clothing styles, it also stocks a diversity of sizes for all ages.

“We proudly stock sizes XS-3X,” Blodgette said. “Our aim for our clothes is always to be multi-generational, size-inclusive and have a variety of styles. I want a 20-year-old to find a perfect piece of clothing just as much as I’d want a 40-year-old and 85-year-old woman to find her perfect piece of clothing in our store.”

Blodgette is sincere with this intention as she (along with many women around the country) struggled to find cute clothing in traditional retail spaces that made her feel confident.

“I shop for and stock the store with plus-size women in mind because I have been there,” said Blodgette, who has since lost 150 pounds. “But I remember how difficult it was to shop. I knew when I started this boutique that we would offer clothing for a wide range of body types because everyone deserves to look good. Fashion is and should be fun.”

Blodgette seems to have done more than provide a nice, inclusive place for many people to buy cute clothes, shoes, jewelry, handbags and more. She has cultivated a safe space, just as she did with her previous business, the well-known clothing store Converge in Depoe Bay.

“My favorite is when customers from a long time ago come in to tell us how a garment they bought from me is still their favorite, still makes them feel beautiful,” she said. “So many of my amazing female friendships come from having this platform to connect with them. There is something special about helping women find their perfect outfits whether it be for a funeral, seeing their ex-husband, their first day of work or whatever it may be! This is what I feel that sets clothing boutiques apart from the rest.”

While Blodgette’s goals of age and size-inclusive clothing remain, she is always changing her merchandise.

“We call the UPS delivery man ‘Santa in shorts,’” she said. “We are moving and changing things every single day. But even if a customer comes back for an item they wanted several months ago and it is no longer there, they can still find a piece of clothing that has a similar vibe and style.”

As the boutique continues to thrive in serving women from all walks of life, so too will Blodgette’s efforts to build trust and lasting friendships — all while getting women into some pretty awesome clothes.

“Yes we sell clothes, but we sell clothes to connect with the people,” Blodgette said. “The clothes move out the door, but I am blessed to say the connections we make stay. It is a blessing to be able to see our clients smile and feel confident in the clothing. And plus, who doesn’t want to play dress-up all day long?”
