It’s time to step out and move at the Newport School of Artistic Movement, where registration is now open for in-person and online fall dance classes, open to beginning through advanced levels students aged five through adult.

Director Nancy Mittleman has been training dancers from preschool to professional for more than 40 years and specializes in developing both technical expertise, stylistic versatility and individuality.

For the littlest dancers, NSAM offers fun, creative movement that incorporates basic ballet and modern dance, fun choreography and an introduction to dance terminology. Dancers then progress through leveled classes that focus mainly on ballet and modern dance techniques, but also incorporate jazz and African dance, Pilates, Qigong and yoga.

“Classes are designed to develop both the student’s technical skills and to spark their creativity,” said Mittleman, who is known for her holistic approach to dance: integrating science, art, literature, music, math and much more into her lessons and choreography.

Classes provide both fun and inspiring recreation and the opportunity to train pre-professionally for those wishing to pursue a career in dance.

Students of NSAM have gone on to study and perform at a variety of schools and troupes including Juilliard, Martha Graham Studio and the San Francisco Ballet.

Register before Sept. 1 and receive a 10 percent discount on the first month’s tuition. Family rates are also available. For more information or to register, call 541-961-2316 or email pdedance@msn.com.
