Simply the fest

Newport’s Autumn Fest Art Show is back and almost getting too big for its britches.

With more than 80 artists taking part, the Newport Recreation Center will be bursting at the seams with art of all kinds this Saturday, Nov 11.

“This is one of our biggest events,” Recreation Program Specialist Jenni Remillard said.  “Last year we expanded into the small gym, this year we are expanding into a third room due to demand.”

Variety is the name of the game at this jam-packed sale.

“The thing I love about this show is there’s something for everyone,” Remillard said. “We have everything from fine art to crafty things and stickers.”

There will also be a free Kids’ Corner in case parents want to drop off their little ones while they check out the show. Kids aged five through 12 can play in the Child Center with the School’s Out Recreation Leaders.

The show runs from 10 am to 4 pm at the Newport Recreation Center, 225 SE Avery Street.
