Sure to be a runway success
Lincoln City’s Driftwood Public Library will be filled with looks at the “This is Me” Fashion Show on Wednesday, Aug. 30.
Fashionistas will get to make their own crowns from supplied materials and are encouraged to wear their favorite, wildest outfits.
“It’s the finale party for the Summer Reading Club but it’s open to anyone to make a crown and walk the runway,” said Youth Services Librarian Vickie Kromer. “It's open to all ages, too.”
Kromer herself is walking the talk and will participate in the show.
“I don’t know about the rest of the staff,” she said, “but I will be there.”
The runway show will be accompanied by pop dance music spun by DJ Lisa Austin.
The theme of the reading club was “Find your Voice,” and participants in the fashion show are encouraged to express their individuality.
“This is meant to be a celebration of all these kids' awesomeness and uniqueness,” Kromer said. “We want people to come in their most amazing, favorite outfit that represents them. If they want to come in costume, that's fine too.”
The library will also have a selection of summer goodies for runway walkers to take home with them.
“They will get to choose the goodies that appeal to them and assemble their own bags,” Kromer said.
Summer Reading Club members will have until Sept. 12 to turn in their logs and be eligible for the raffle.
The show begins at 5 pm at Driftwood Public Library, located at 801 SW Hwy. 101 in Lincoln City. For more information, go to driftwoodlib.org or call 541-996-2277.
