These boots are made for watching

As part of the roll up to Newport’s first ever Pride Weekend, Sept. 16 through 18, the Newport Performing Arts Center is screening “Kinky Boots” this Friday, Sept. 9.

Featuring songs by Grammy- and Tony-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper and with direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell of “Legally Blonde” and “Hairspray,” this award-winning musical tells a joyous story of Brit grit to high-heeled hit, as it takes you from the factory floor of Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan.

The energy, joy and laughter of the dazzling show that the Hollywood News called the “freshest, most fabulous, feel-good musical of the decade,” is the perfect event as locals and visitors plan to show their Newport Pride.
